![]() Anyway, how about we move on to how great Hailee Steinfeld is in this movie. Not going in-depth on that, because we'll be here forever. The self-conscious issues, well, really, I still have them to this day. That's neither here nor there, I suppose. But, I'd like to think that I'm a pretty good friend once you get to really know me. It takes a lot for me to really trust and, eventually, become friends with someone. That lent itself to me being, really, a very shy and introverted person. Some of my friends from high school probably don't even know what my mom looks like, that's how bad it was back in the day. We're very private people and, really, that was passed down onto me. Part of it is due to the fact of how I was raised. First things first, I came into the 'group' at the third grade and the group of friends I eventually ended in had already been established prior to my arrival at the school. Now that's not because of anything any of my friends did or said, it was more my feelings of inadequacy. But, in spite of all of that, I always felt like I was on the outside looking in (which you could say is one of themes of this movie, where Nadine, due to her shyness, doesn't put herself out there and she struggles to connect with people who aren't named Krista). I still love them to this day, naturally. Now, don't get me wrong, I had friends in school and I loved every single one of them. Mostly Nadine's loneliness and some self-conscious issues. And despite the fact that I'm not seventeen nor a girl, I can say that parts of the movie definitely spoke to me. But, at the same time, while I would like to see a movie about a man my age, of my nationality, exploring issues that are relevant to me, that's not to mean that I cannot connect to a character of another nationality and, even, another gender just as long as I can relate to parts of the story and what the lead character might be going through. ![]() There's still a lot of work to be done, but progress is being made. The film industry is improving in that regard as, now, there's a lot more variety in casting lead roles than at any point in the past. I'm just using black teenagers as an example to prove my point. This can be the case for any demographic. which is for the better, but it wasn't the case for quite a while. What I mean is, say, young black teenagers, normally, don't get to star in their own major motion picture. I often understand when people talk about having movies that speak personally to them because, for one reason or another, Hollywood just hasn't gotten around to making films for that particular audience yet.

Vinyl dubplates are a recently-developed format which allow extremely durable recordings to be made (lasting 90% as long as pressed vinyl) and are more suited to cases where no release is imminent, or the release date is a long time away. However, because they have a limited life-span they can only be used about fifty times. They are often used as a market research tool to assess the probable sales of a tune once it's released, as they are far cheaper to produce than a pressed vinyl. These dubplates will often be either unreleased recordings (which may or may not end up being made available to the general public) or exclusive versions or remixes of existing recordings. The name also refers to an exclusive, 'one-off' acetate disc recording pioneered by Reggae sound systems but also used by drum and bass and other dance music artists, DJs and sound systems. people like skream, dmz, n-type must spend all of their gig money on new dubs (do these big name artists live off music or all have day jobs?)Ī dubplate is an acetate disc - usually 12 inches, 10 inches or 7 inches in diameter - used in mastering studios for quality control and test recordings before proceeding with the final master, and subsequent pressing of the record to be mass produced on vinyl. I don't quite know what the point of my question is, just wondered what people think about it.īesides the audio-quality-aspect of dubs i just wonder why people spend so much money (especially strictly dubplate dj's) if they could also have their tracks mastered and play them from high quality cd/serato with a minimum of the original cost.i think it's cool they prefer quality, just interesting for me to see that this has become more important to dj's again. i personally think it is great that people spend a lot of money and time to get some good quality music (especially with dope sounding dubplates that can get scratched easily and won't last very long in comparison to regular vinyl). I'm just surprised that people really spend a whole lot of money on dubs, while all this p2p-mp3-final-scratch-cdr-serato-madness is going on. ![]() However, sometimes transparency can be distracting, for example if you have a particularly noisy wallpaper then you might struggle to read the iTerm2 text. Jackbox said that its playerbase doubled from 100 million players in 2019 to 200 million by October 2020 due to society's shutdown. Starting on May 1, 2020, Jackbox ran ten special Celebrity Jackbox live streams to support COVID-19 charities, with the celebrities playing various Jackbox Party Pack games alongside audience viewers. ![]() The first six Jackbox Party Packs gained renewed attention during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way for many people to keep up social interactions while maintaining social distancing. Some games, such as Fakin' It, took multiple years to get the right gameplay and mechanics down to make it an appropriate game for inclusion. Īccording to Allard Laban, creative chief for both Jellyvision Labs and Jackbox Games, they select games to include in the packs through a combination of allowing the team to submit fleshed-out ideas, and through testing various ideas through pen-and-paper trials Laban stated that for Party Pack 4, they had over fifty play-tested concepts which they narrowed down to four new games, rounding out the package with an improved version of Fibbage. A key part of Party Pack games is to streamline the ability for players to get into games, and according to Jackbox Games' CEO Mike Bilder, they spent about a year working on building their servers and software to provide a flexible architecture for the player-side mobile and web interface to expand for any of the games, and to avoid having players download any type of app to get started. Subsequent Jackbox Party Packs have included improvements of existing games, support for more players including the addition of audience participation through the same connectivity approach, better support for content management for streams (as to remove offensive terms in responses, for example), and the ability to create custom games. The company saw this as a new development model that allowed them to provide new packs on an annual basis, play around with different game formats, and provide higher value to consumers over one-off games. This formed the basis of the Jackbox Party Pack, with the first pack released in 2014 including updated versions of You Don't Know Jack, Fibbage, a reworked version of Lie Swatter for its multiplayer approach, and two new games. With the success of Fibbage, Jackbox Games decided that they could offer these games in packs, reworking older games to use the streaming capabilities and adding in new games. Other players would participate by using a web browser or mobile device to connect to the streaming player's game through Jackbox's servers and which to provide their answers. One key game that followed this was its 2014 game Fibbage, which allows up to eight simultaneous players, one of whom can use live streaming or play with people in the same room. Īmong its one-off games including Lie Swatter, Clone Booth, and Word Puttz, generally designed as single player games or played asynchronously with other players. This last version was a critical success, and led the studio to focus on developing similar games, rebranding the studio by 2013 as Jackbox Games. īy 2008, Jellyvision, now named The Jellyvision Lab, saw that mobile gaming was booming, so it created a small subsidiary, Jellyvision Games, to rework You Don't Know Jack, first for consoles in its 2011 version, then for mobile and Facebook users with the now-defunct 2012 iteration. The company focused on developing business solution software, specifically offering software to its clients to help assist their customers for complex forms or other types of support. ![]() ![]() Though the series had been successful in the late 1990s, Jellyvision had not been able to make the transition easily from computer to home console games, and by 2001, all but six employees of Jellyvision had been laid off. Jellyvision had been well-established for its You Don't Know Jack series of "irreverent trivia" games. Each installment contains five games that are designed to be played in groups of varying sizes, including in conjunction with streaming services like Twitch which provide means for audiences to participate. The Jackbox Party Pack is a series of party video games developed by Jackbox Games for many different platforms on a near-annual release schedule since 2014.
